Following the recent Worcester News article relating to our request for planning permission to purchase a nearby property to extend our practice, we wanted to update our patient community to make sure none of our patients have concerns about our future plans.
The article notes that we’re intending to deliver private services, but we want to be clear that if we do so, these will be as a small add-on to our existing NHS delivery, and won’t reduce the services we provide to our patients.
Albany House Surgery is not “going private” but we are looking to future proof the practice so that we can improve the services which we provide. This is particularly important when NHS funding is so limited. For some years now we have wanted to increase the downstairs floor space to improve wheelchair access.
We will be working closely with our local residents and Worcester City Council planning team to ensure any plans, if approved, happen in a way that work well for those who live nearby and for all of our existing patients. Additionally, we are committed to honouring the legacy of the late Dr. Smith, the previous owner of the property in question, in line with his desire for it to be used to help others.
We are proud to be NHS!
